Sierra AmberMist Medical Memorial Fund
The Sierra AmberMist Medical Memorial Fund
My name is Sierra AmberMist. I was a very sweet pit bull. I found myself in a shelter in Southern Maryland in July 2016 with a dislocated right hip. A couple, who volunteered for years at the shelter received permission to take me to a private vet where they paid for my FHO surgery. They fostered and provided me with the physical therapy I needed. Then, I saw an animal acupuncturist. After the second of three sessions, I was able to put my right back leg down on the ground for the first time in months. Based on my low weight and injury, the vet believed I was out on my own for six weeks. I was adopted on October 16, 2016. After I was well, we moved to Las Vegas. We three loved one another beyond measure. I rode across country with them numerous times. In April 2025, my bloodwork was very good. Then, momma and papa noticed a difference in me and went for a second opinion in July 2025. In a few short months, I had gone into stage 4 kidney failure. I was in the hospital for three days and nights where fluids were pushed to flush my kidneys. Numerous vets were consulted throughout my illness, but there was nothing that could be done. When I came home from the hospital, momma and papa provided me with 500 milliliters of subcutaneous fluids each day for almost three months. The hardest decision my momma and papa ever made was deciding when to let me go. After not wanting to eat for a few days, a nice hospice vet was called to help me over the Rainbow Bridge. On October 16, 2025, I crossed the Rainbow Bridge on one of my orthopedic beds, in the backyard, under a palm tree, overlooking the golf course. I loved the outside and that’s where I wanted to be. My momma and papa were devastated. My previous DNA test showed that I was most likely 13 years old when I passed. This medical memorial fund will continue to help many animals in need, just like my momma and papa helped me and many others through the years. One day, I was in a shelter with a dislocated hip, with little to no hope of being adopted. My momma and papa gave me a second chance at an unbelievable life. We three had nine glorious years together. I would like this same happy ending for many more deserving animals through my medical fund. Every dollar for this medical fund makes a huge difference in the life of a sick or injured animal. You can make that difference. Help save a life just like mine was saved.
