SPOTLIGHT ON A TRAINER – KEITH SCHAEFER
Keith Certifying KILO for our advanced Ambassador Program
With our new facility up and running, we rely heavily on our trainers to carry out Pawtastic Friends mission – ‘We strive to make the world a better place for homeless animals’. Keith Schaefer has taken on the task!
Keith has been training with Pawtastic Friends since 2019. He specializes in basic obedience & leash skills. Keith handles scholars in the K9 Ambassador Program, transports dogs to the Enrichment Training Center, volunteers every Tuesday for Boarding Buddies dog walking and participates in all PF Events. Wow, that’s commitment! We heard from his daughter who told us, “He loves the dogs more than his children”. While we’re sure that’s not true, it speaks volumes to his dedication.
Keith is originally from Buffalo New York and is a Vietnam vet. He loves the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey, Buffalo Bills football and NASCAR auto racing. His daughter also told us, “He enjoyed waking his kids up on Sunday morning by blasting NASCAR engine start”. Keith is the “Grill Master” at home.
Most impressive is that Keith owned his own kennel for 26 years. He is an AKC registered trainer and bred championship German Shepherds, but his heart belongs to rescue dogs and providing the training they need to acclimate to their fur-ever home.
Keith and his pup Mazel are a Therapy Team for Michael’s Angel Paws. He loves spending time with his family, furry grandchildren, rescue pups and watching sports. If you want to see his soft side, bring him a puppy or kitten. 😆
